If it seems that Edinburgh is filled with spanking new style bars then it is worth a visit to the Tolbooth Tavern, as this pub dates back to 1557. Rumoured to possess a handful of ghosts, whose attention seeking often gets the better of them, resulting in the occassional smashed glass. That said it's a handy alibi. If you accidently spill your drink or fall off your chair, just blame the ghosts.
