Royal
Museum
Chambers Street
0131 247 4422
Set in a magnificent Victorian building, the Royal Museum holds outstanding
international collections and varied international temporary exhibitions,
covering Decorative Arts, Science and Industry, Archaeology and the Natural
World. The Main Hall is itself an attraction for visitors - flooded with
natural light, the "bird cage" design creates a wonderfully
tranquil atmosphere from which to start your tour.
There are two very good cafes here too. Cafe Delos is set in the main
entrance hall, so you can soak up the fantastic ambience over a cuppa
or a light bite, and Soupson is tucked away in nice, light little room,
with a variety of excellent and unusual fresh soups as well as a beautiful
array of pastries, salad, sandwiches and fresh fruit. Both are good places
to rest and refuel.
