Portobello
Portobello's beginnings go back to 1742, when
a solitary cottage was built by a survivor of the battle of Puerto Bello.
The cottage became a village, which was incorporated into Edinburgh in
1896. Most famous as a holiday resort in the early to mid 20th century,
the typical British seaside amenities can still be seen here, with a fairground,
games, arcades and ice cream sellers populating the beachfront.
