This is a truly special dining experience, so don't be put off by the fact that the restaurant is in a hotel, albeit an impressive one. The location, elegance of the room and standard of cooking and service make this is a thoroughly romantic experience which transports you back to a bygone age of elegance and glamour. While pricey, the food is excellent, so worth treating yourself - but beware the wine list, which starts at £20 and goes up. The best seats in the house are the window seats, looking through floor-length oval windows up towards the floodlit castle and over Princes Street.
