Robert Owen founded this village as a model for social change, where workers
had good living conditions, free education, health care and reasonably
priced goods at the local shop. The whole village has been carefully restored
and is now a World Heritage site and a monument to Owen's life work. The
visitor centre is based around a fantastic ride called the "New Millennium
Experience".
