In a world of cookie-cutter restaurants Ducks at Le Marche Noir is refreshingly individual. Owned by Malcolm Duck, the eponymous styling is continued throughout, from the table decorations and side plates to a ducky soap dispenser. While the décor may not be to everybody's taste, they should have no truck with the food. The menu ranges from classic French to interesting modern European dishes, all extremely well executed and coming in generous portions. The wine list is an oeneophile's dream and the service is efficient, jolly and manages to be slick while lacking pretension. Suitable for a special occasion or just for a treat, Duck's is the sort of restaurant which inspires deep loyalty from its clientele. If you're looking for a wenge and chrome-appointed minimalist canteen then Ducks probably isn't the right place to go - but those who like Ducks will go truly quackers over it. (Sorry!)
