Originally designed and built as the Dean Orphan Hospital by Thomas Hamilton
in the 1830's, the Dean Gallery was converted and opened in 1999 to house
the Paolozzi gift, part of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art's
permanent collection as well as various temporary exhibitions. The collections
include world-class examples of Dada and Surrealist art as well as those
of Sir Eduardo Paolozzi. The grounds display sculptures by Bourdelle,
Rickey, Hamilton Finlay, Paolozzi and Turnbull.
