Unique is a word that has been bandied about in this section, but has never had more pertinence than now. The Canny Man's is a pub unlike any other. If they don't like you, they won't serve you. Sounds harsh but dress smartly, be of an age where you won't start singing or ordering tequila slammers, carry yourself with dignity and apply the requisite politeness and you'll be welcomed. These standards have been set since the pub opened in 1871 and the Canny Man's walls are adorned with trinkets and features that you'd never expect to see in a pub. There are over a hundred malts, fine ales on tap and champagne and strawberries are frequently ordered. All food and drink are of the highest standard. This is an establishment you should visit just to say you've been there.
