EDINBURGH'S FESTIVALS

Edinburgh International Book Festival
13th - 29th August 2005

The gardens of Charlotte Square play host every year to the world's biggest public book event. Publishers from all over the globe display their titles in the tented village and many authors will visit for talks and "meet the author" events. Free events include Storytellers in Residence, book signings, and the Imprisoned Writers events, where, each day, the Book Festival pays tribute to writers incarcerated or persecuted for their beliefs and works. There is also a separate Children's programme to help keep the next generation aware of the fact that a computer screen is not the only thing worth reading! If you're of the type that loves books, then you really have to come and lose an afternoon here, or even just have an impromptu picnic in the park.
