House of the Binns

This 17th Century Laird's House was built between 1612 and 1630 by Edinburgh merchant, Thomas Dalyell. Additions were made to the original building in the mid 18th and early 19th Centuries. Gifted to the National Trust for Scotland by Eleanor Dalyell in 1944, the House contains an interesting collection of family portraits, silver, porcelain and furniture. There is also a woodland walk to the tower on Binns Hill behind the house, which has panoramic views over the Forth.
