This was once the estate of Henry Erskine, brother of the 10th Earl of
Buchan, which he set up as his country retreat in the 1790's. Alexander
Nasmyth designed the bridge over the River Almond, which remains a feature
of the park. There are woodland trails here to follow, river walks, picnic
areas and bookable barbecue sites. The old stables and coach house have
been converted into a visitor centre with displays on natural history,
an aquarium and a ranger base with a programme of events and activities.
Other interesting features of the park are a railway viaduct dating to
1881 and the canal feeder aqueduct, a cast iron bridge dating to 1823.
